Editorial and corrections policy

People use these pages to decide when to book a test that costs money and when to send an application that costs much more. A stale fee or a wrong day limit can cost them a refusal, so every figure points back to the official page it was read on.

Who is responsible

Radif Partners, reachable at contact@lifeinukexam.co.uk.

What we read

  • gov.uk: the Life in the UK Test guide, the citizenship, settlement, ceremony, English language and passport pages;
  • Home Office documents published on gov.uk: the naturalisation nationality guidance, Guide AN, the immigration and nationality fees table, the list of approved English tests and test centres, and statements of changes to the Immigration Rules;
  • for the practice questions, the facts stated in the official handbook, Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents.

How the questions are written

Each question takes one fact from the handbook and asks about it in our own words. We never copy a question from an app, a book, another practice site or a real test, and we never present our questions as official.

Sources we refuse

Law firms, advisers, book and app publishers and practice sites never supply a figure here. A rule we cannot find on an official page is not published.

Review cycle

A script compares the Home Office fees table with our parameter file every month and stops if an amount differs, until a person has checked the rule. Guidance and rules are re-read whenever the Home Office publishes a change; announced reforms are shown as coming, with their date, never as current.

Corrections

  1. We open the official page again.
  2. We correct the parameter file or the question, and add an automated test for the case.
  3. The site rebuilds and every page shows the new date.

Independence

No law firm, adviser, publisher or government body pays for or reviews what is published here, and the site carries no affiliate link. See also the method page. Version of .
